Williams won converted five of seven breakpoint chances against the unseeded Radwanska and set up a quarterfinal against Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia. In other second-round matches, No. 2-seeded Misaki Doi of Japan advanced with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Magda Linette of Poland and Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland upset fifth-seeded Zheng Saisai of China 6-4, 6-4.
