There were no explosive materials found in any parcels being sent abroad through Cairo airport, a security official within the ministry of interior said on Wednesday. "Scanners suspected some objects inside one of the parcels, but after it was examined the authorities found that it was just some type of ink used for computers printers," the official said in a statement published on the ministry's Facebook page. On Tuesday, a security source told Aswat Masriya said that two DHL parcels containing explosive materials were seized at Cairo International Airport before heading to the US through London. The source at the airport said that the parcels, weighing about 10kg, were undergoing security procedures when the explosive substances were detected by the X-Ray scans which confirmed the presence of explosives. Following the crash of the Russian airliner on 31 October in Sinai, which killed all 224 passengers on board, security measures have been tightened at Egyptian airports. New X-Ray baggage security scanners have been installed in the departure hall of Cairo International Airport. The United States has asked Egypt not to ship parcels, cargo, or mail on passenger aircraft destined for the United States starting this week. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/171700.aspx
