Zamalek refute Ferreira's 'false excuses' following shock exit Zamalek have responded to Jesualdo Ferreira's claims in an official statement on the club's website, accusing the Portuguese manager of lying to the fans following his sudden exit
Zamalek have accused manager Jesualdo Ferreira of ‘using false excuses' in an attempt to justify his sudden departure from the club through an official statement issued on their official website. Portuguese boss Ferreira has notified Zamalek's board that he will not resume his role as Zamalek manager, surprisingly leaving the club whom he led to the domestic double last season. The 69-year-old tactician then posted a message on his Facebook page addressing the Zamalek faithful, citing several reasons, including the club's failure to pay off his wages on time and Chairman Mortada Mansour's interference in his work, behind his shock decision. Zamalek, however, were quick to deny Ferreira's allegations in a statement, accusing him of lying to the fans with false excuses so as to justify his sudden exit. "Ferreira lied when he said that Mansour has been lashing out at him in the media behind his back because he had spoken to a Portuguese magazine where he said that the club's president treats him well and meets all his needs," the statement read. Zamalek also denied that Ferreira hadn't received his wages during the last four months, having recently renewed his club contract – evidence that there is no wage-rift between both parties. The club then went as far as accusing him of talking with agents in UAE in search for a new club during Zamalek's training camp ahead of the 3-2 domestic Super Cup defeat against Ahly – a result they held him responsible for following his ‘wrong starting lineup'. Ferreira was also accused by the reigning champions of intentionally refusing to receive his wages from the bank, after already deciding to quit the club. The former Porto boss was appointed as Zamalek's coach in February this year following the acrimonious departure of compatriot Jaime Pacheco, who exited the club in similar fashion on New Year's Day.
