The liberal Free Egyptians Party (FEP) announced on Tuesday that 65 of its candidates in the first stage of the parliamentary elections have qualified for the runoffs in 51 constituencies. Acting party chairman Essam Khalil said at a press conference that the party ran the first stage of the parliamentary elections in 80 constituencies with 112 candidates in 14 governorates, and thanked the voters for their confidence in the party and its candidates. The runoffs will take place on 27 and 28 October, during which the FEP will run in Alexandria, New Valley, Beheira, Giza, Minya, Assiut, Sohag and Qena, according to party officials. Candidates need to gain at least 50 percent of the votes available to them to win an individual seat.
