Egypt PM meets with visiting Turkish foreign minister Prime Minster Essam Sharaf highlighted Egypt's and Turkey's importance in the region during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Cairo Saturday
Interim Prime Minster Essam Sharaf hailed Egypt's bilateral relations with Turkey during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Cairo Saturday. “Both Egypt and Turkey are regional powers in the Middle East. They are both influential ... They are also cooperating with each other in certain domains,” Sharaf said. In return, Davutoglu stressed that “Turkey has supported the Egyptian Revolution and is willing to offer all forms of political and economic support for Egypt to help it in the transitional period to democracy, as well as to help it overcome its financial problems.” Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is to pay Cairo a visit on 20 July to further discuss the countries' bilateral relations. Furthermore, Sharaf sat down with Minister of Interior Mansour El-Eissawi to discuss the security status following bloody clashes between protesters and central security forces last week.
