Six killed, 31 wounded in road accident south of Cairo The crash is the latest in deadly traffic accidents that take place in Egypt on a near daily basis
Six people were killed and 31 wounded when a passenger bus flipped over on a highway south of Cairo, the latest in near daily road accidents plaguing Egypt's streets and highways. The accident took place in the early hours of Wednesday near Upper Egypt's Beni Suif province, 100 km (62 miles) south of Cairo, Ahram Arabic news website said. Fifteen ambulances were dispatched to the site of the crash and victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Traffic accidents claim around 12,000 lives a year in Egypt, according to the World Health Organization. Crashes are often blamed on reckless driving, poor infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations. On Tuesday, seven people were killed in a road collision in Sharqiya, north of Cairo. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/136997.aspx
