Zamalek continued their perfect run in the Egyptian Premier League after beating Masry 1-0 on Monday to move five points clear on top of the table. An early goal by their top scorer Basem Morsi gave the Cairo giants their sixth consecutive win, extending Zamalek's unbeaten streak to 17 matches, their best run in over a decade. The White Knights are five points clear of second-placed ENPPI, who played two extra games. They have 63 points from 26 games, 11 clear of arch rivals and holders Ahly who crushed El-Geish 4-0 on Sunday. Masry, who fialed to secure a second consecutive win under new coach Mokhtar Mokhtar, remained 13th in the league table with 35 points. The win over Masry in Ismailia also marked the first time Zamalek kept a clean sheet for six straight matches in 32 years. Chasing their first league title since 2004, Zamalek mounted early pressure that resulted in an early goal. It only took striker Morsi five minutes to send a low shot into the bottom corner from inside the area for his 10th league goal after being set up by in-form winger Mostafa Fathi, who skipped past three challengers in the build-up. Masry rarely threatened Zamalek but they could have leveled the score when striker Ahmed Raouf broke the offside trap and raced clear but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy. Ferreira introduced Nigerian midfielder Maarouf Yusuf and playmaker Ayman Hefni in a bid to inject zeal in the second half but Zamalek still struggled to create goal-scoring chances. It was Masry who carved out an opening on the hour mark when defensive midfielder Ashour El-Adham was thwarted by El-Shennawy. The Port Said-based club mounted a late onslaught but Zamalek, who are widely prasied for defensive solidity this term, held firm to keep their opponents and bay and claim all three points. ## (For more sports news andupdates, followAhramOnlineSportson Twitter at@AO_Sportsand onFacebookatAhramOnlineSports.) http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/129991.aspx
