Nigeria's recently appointed coach Stephan Keshi admitted he would have to start from scratch to build a new team for the Super Eagles. Keshi, who helped Nigeria win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, returned to his post after penning a two-year contract last week. “The team that helped us win the AFCON in 2013 is no longer in place," Keshi told reporters on Tuesday. “We don't presently have a team. We would have to start from scratch to build a formidable team that Nigerians would be proud of. “My plan is to start with the local-based players, like I did the last time and then look for fit and in-form players from outside the shores of the country. “It's sad that most of our players are not getting regular action in their clubs but we pray that this improves.” Nigeria, who failed to qualify for the last edition of the Nations Cup, were drawn in Group G of the 2017 qualifiers along with Egypt, Tanzania and Chad. The Super Eagles will start their qualifying campaign against Chad at home.
