An Egyptian court sentenced on Sunday an Egyptian citizen and two Israelis to life in jail on charges of spying, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported. The criminal court of Al-Arish also fined the defendants EGP10,000. The two Israelis were tried in absentia. The defendants were found guilty of espionage in the period from August 2011 to February 2014. Israel signed a peace treaty with Egypt in 1979. In October 2011, Egypt freed a US-Israeli dual national, Ilan Grapel, after he was arrested in Cairo and accused of working for Israel's Mossad, under a prisoner swap deal that saw Israel free 25 Egyptian prisoners. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/128061.aspx
