Three accidentally killed while manufacturing bomb in Sharqiya In recent months bomb attacks have been targeting commercial and residential areas in Cairo and other governorates, which were previously confined to the Sinai peninsula
Three people died while manufacturing an improvised bomb in Egypt's Sharqiya governorate, official news agency MENA reported. Sharqiya security officials received a report of an explosion in one of the houses in Sharqiya's Belbes area. Police and firefighters moved to the scene and upon examination concluded that a bomb detonated by mistake killing its three manufacturers and causing the house they were in to collapse. Since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, Egypt has been hit by a rising wave of attacks, reportedly by Islamist militants. The violence has claimed the lives of hundreds of security forces. Almost two weeks ago also in Sharqiya, two assailants died when an improvised bomb they were planting accidently exploded. The deadliest attacks have been centered in the country's restive Sinai Peninsula, where the Egyptian government has been battling a militant Islamist insurgency in the past decade. Attacks in North Sinai are mostly claimed by the Islamic State-affiliated group, Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis. In recent months, dozens of smaller bombs have been planted by alleged Islamist militants nationwide, targeting economic installations such as electricity pylons and mobile phone stores. Militants have also placed a large number of decoy and sound bombs in various spots around the capital and other cities. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/126678.aspx
