Despite another below-par performance from defending champions Ahly, coach Juan Carlos Garrido was still satisfied that his side had achieved "three goals" following their late 2-1 Egyptian Premier League win over Ragaa on Tuesday. Ethiopian striker Saladin Saed headed home with six minutes remaining to help Ahly avenge their stunning defeat at the hands of their lowly opponents last October. "We faced some challenges in this game and we succeeded in realising all of our goals," Spanish coach Garrido told reporters following the match. "Firstly, it was important to win to make up for the previous defeat by Ragaa. They defeated us in the first round and we were determined to beat them in the second round. "Secondly, we needed to get off to a winning start in the second half of the season and finally, the victory helped us close the gap on leaders Zamalek," he added. Ahly, who are eyeing a record-equaling ninth successive title, are third in the league table with 39 points, nine behind leaders Zamalek who played one game more.
