Zamalek will have to do without key defender Mohamed Koffi and top scorer Bassem Morsi when they face Dakhleya as the Egyptian Premier League resumes on Monday after a seven-week hiatus in the wake of a Cairo football disaster. Koffi will not be able to return to Cairo in time for the game as he will take part in Burkina Faso's friendly game against Morocco on Monday. The 28-year-old versatile defender has been a revelation since joining last summer, winning over Zamalek's supporters with a series of solid displays in the heart of their four-man defence. Top scorer Morsi, who was equally impressive, will miss out due to automatic suspension after picking up three yellow cards. He demonstrated his goal-poaching abilities after notching eight goals in 15 league appearances. Zamalek players said they were determined to end the club's 11-year league drought to honour the victims of last month's football tragedy. Twenty Zamalek supporters died of stampede after being tear-gassed by security forces, who sought to prevent them from attending a league match against ENPPI at the army-owned Air Defence Stadium. The match, which went on despite the disaster, ended in a 1-1 draw but the competition was suspended. The Egyptian government decided to resume the league on Monday, albeit behind closed doors. Zamalek are on top of the table with 45 points, three ahead of second-placed ENPPI and six clear of arch-rivals and defending champions Ahly.
