Egypt's presidency announced on Thursday that its navy and air force were participating in the military operation in Yemen in an attempt to restore "legitimacy and stability" in the country, a statement read. Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes against alleged Houthi rebel sites in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. The Egyptianforeign ministry said on Thursday that Egypt is "providing political and military support" for an operation launched by Saudi Arabia and its Gulf Arab allies against Houthi fighters in Yemen. Shia Houthi rebels stormed the southern coastal city of Aden on Wednesday. Houthi fighters took over control of the Yemeni capital Sanaa in September, causing theYemeni president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Aden last month.
