Tunisia have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against a possible ban from the 2017 African Cup of Nations. The Confederation of African Football fined the Tunisian federation $50,000 and suspended its president, Wadie Jary, after he refused to apologize following his country's contentious 2-1 loss to host Equatorial Guinea in the African Cup quarterfinals on Jan. 31. The game was marred by violence among Tunisians after Equatorial Guinea was awarded a penalty in the last minute of extra time. CAF threatened Tunisia with a ban from the next cup if it didn't apologize for suggesting CAF and its referee were biased. CAF has given the Tunisians a March 31 deadline to apologize. CAS says the Tunisians have filed an appeal and requested a stay.
