El-Hodoud howlers give Ahly precious league win
Ahly climbs to Egyptian league fifth place after a precious 3-0 win over Haras El-Hodoud
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 12 - 2014

Grave errors by Haras El-Hodoud granted hosts Ahly a precious 2-0 win in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday.
The Cairo giants succeeded to continue their winning streak to jump to the fifth place with 20 points, nine behind leaders ENPPI to inch closer to the league summit.
The recent Confederation Cup winners, Ahly, still have four matches in hand.
Enjoying the return of some key players, Ahly opened the score early at the first half before hitting the net twice in the second, exploiting El-Hodoud's deadly defensive errors.
After 11 minutes, midfielder Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" had a golden chance to score and give Ahly an early lead, but the visitor's keeper Ahmed Saad was on target.
Both teams continued mutual attacks in the first 15 minutes but without a real threat against the goal.
A fatal error by Haras keeper Ahmed Saad granted Ahly the opener after failing to deny a ball by striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher.
The military team tried to restore the balance as striker Ahmed Hassan Mecky sent a clear shot but was stopped by promising goalkeeper Awad who made a clever save.
In the minutes leading up to the break, both teams tightened their defense amid Ahly's superiority as the Cairo giants fired off two successive missed trials by Emad Meteb and Abdallah El-Said before the whistle.
Better Second half
Failing to double the score after the first 15 minutes, Ahly's Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido replaced striker Abdel-Zaher with playmaker Walid Soliman in a bid to refresh his attacking line.
In the 67thminute, fullback Bassem Aly made a perfect effort to pass Haras defendersto get a clear shot on the keepr that was wasted.
Seven minutes later, Ahly's Burkinabe midfielder, Moussa Yedan replaced teammate Abdallah El-Said in another bid seeking more goals by Garrido.
Ahly had a lot of missed passes and random attacks, while El-Hodoud players kept fighting to reach the goal in vain.
At minute 81, playmaker Walid Soliman was lucky enough to add the second goal for Ahly being on target following a deadly error by El-Hodoud defender.
While everyone was waiting for the final whistle, Mahmoud Rezk unleashed man of the match Trezeguet from more than 40 yards to go on a one-on-one against keeper and hit the third deep into injury time.
