Egypt still Ebola-free, says health ministry
An Egyptian citizen quarantined after arriving from Sierra Leona tests negative for the Ebola virus

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that Egypt was still Ebola-free and that an Egyptian citizen quarantined after returning from Sierra Leone last week did not suffer from any Ebola virus symptoms.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said the man tested negative for the virus and his condition was stable. The statement added that the man would be discharged from quarantine after finishing all the precautionary tests.
On Friday, Health Minister Adel El-Adawi announced that a 35-year-old Egyptian citizen coming from Sierra Leone had been quarantined at Cairo international airport as a precautionary procedure.
The minister added that that the citizen was infected by Ebola virus two months ago during his stay in Sierra Leone but he was totally cured before his return to Cairo.
Last month, El-Adawi stated that Egypt was Ebola free with no recorded or suspected cases.
He also announced that travellers coming from West African countries who are suspected of being infected will be tested upon arrival.
Sierra Leone was hit by the worst outbreak of Ebola virus in the West Africa region that has affected not less than 6,200 people since February. On Thursday, Sierra Leone's government announced that it had quarantined more than a million people in an attempt to bring an end to the spread of the deadly Ebola virus.
