It has also been performed internationally in Germany, Zimbabwe, the US, Morocco and Iraq. Bassiouny is one of Egypt's renowned theatre directors. In Cairo, she is a university professor, theatre critic and translator. Among her translated work is Nine Parts of Desire, a one-woman play by Iraqi-American playwright Heather Raffo.
