Legal complaint filed against Egyptian TV presenters for 'inciting overthrow of govt'
Egyptian accuses Yousry Fouda and Gaber El-Qarmouty of inciting against the Egyptian state

An Egyptian private citizen has filed a legal complaint with the prosecutor-general accusing two local television anchors, Yousry Fouda and Gaber El-Qarmouty, of "inciting the overthrow of the regime,” a crime under Egyptian law.
The two presenters work for satellite channel ONTV, owned by business tycoon and founder of the Free Egyptians Party, Naguib Sawiris.
In his complaint, Mahmoud Abou El-Leil accused Fouda of working for the benefit of the Al-Jazeera network by hosting on his programme "guests that oppose the state", that "criticise President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi" and that "meddle with the minds of the poor."
Egyptian authorities have repeatedly accused Qatari-based Al-Jazeera of bias towards the Muslim Brotherhood in its coverage, and have shut down its local operations and arrested and convicted several of its journalists on terrorism charges.
Abou El-Leil also accused El-Qarnouty of inciting against the state by "criticising its policies and harshly criticising the recent power cuts while failing to criticise the terrorism gangs that work to destroy the country."
A major power outage hit a number of Egyptian cities on Thursday, bringing the Cairo metro to a halt and knocking some local channels off air.
Abou El-Leil also demanded that both presenters' programmes be banned and that they be referred to investigation by the prosecution.
