Prominent Egyptian activist and human rights lawyer Ahmed Seif El-Islam died on Wednesday at the age of 63 after a struggle with disease. El-Islam had been unconscious in the intensive care unit for nearly two weeks. He has a long history of defending victims of human rights, was detained four times and represented, along with his wife and his children, a life of political activism.
