Salah's Chelsea future in jeopardy due to military commitment: Reports Salah's future at Chelsea is up in the air due to military commitment back home, Egyptian reports suggest
Egypt winger Mohamed Salah fears for his Chelsea future after being expelled from an educational institution in Egypt, which according to rules should make him immediately eligible for military service, local reports said on Friday. The 22-year-old should return to his homeland for his compulsory military duty as a result of a decision from the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education to dismiss him from an educational institution at which he has been enrolled. Local football website FilGoal.com quoted former Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan, a current member of the national team's backroom staff, as saying that Salah told him he was "shocked" by the decision. According to Hassan, Salah said he didn't expect to be given such a treatment from the country he is serving by promoting its name in the elite English Premier League. Worrying about the prospect of losing his talented schemer in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, Egypt manager Shawky Gharib has called on the Minister of Youth to quickly intervene and sort out the problem. Gharib also called on authorities to put into consideration Salah's status quo; as he represents Egypt at one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Egypt kick off their 2015 CAN qualifying campaign in September in a group that comprises Tunisia and Senegal. Should Salah return him, he would not be able to link up with Chelsea unless given the green light by Egypt's army.
