Inspired by the month of Ramadan and the attire of the orient, which is characterised by flowing opaque garments that are modest and covering, DKNY – a major New York-based fashion retailer – has taken a bold step by releasing a wide range of loose flowing garments. The collection was dubbed "Ramadan Summer." ## ## The collection, which was launched on the 30 June in all DKNY Middle East, stores consists of garments that resemble the style of clothing in the Middle East, long flowing dresses and skirts, wide legged harem pants and jumpsuits using opaque materials, and long sleeved dress shirts with modest necklines that pair up with pants. ## ## The styling team behind the new collection was two women of Middle Eastern roots: Tamara Al-Gabbani, who comes from Dubai and who is an acclaimed fashion designer, and Yalada Golsharifi, fashion editor at Style magazine. ## The collection consists of twelve main satin and silk pieces in white, black, mustard, and grey shades. The creations was hailed by Britain's Independent as "a wonderful way to bring Muslim customs to mainstream attention... beautiful and tasteful." http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/105903.aspx
