Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud asserted rejecting the Turkish escalation in Libya that breaches international law. During a meeting held on the sidelines of a ministerial gathering of African and Arab states on the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the top diplomats underscored the importance of propelling efforts meant to reach a comprehensive settlement that addresses the different aspects of the Libyan crisis. Shoukry and Al Saud stressed the strong and strategic relations between the peoples of the two nations, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez. They discussed means of boosting cooperation in various domains in the coming period, the spokesman added. Hafez stated that the meeting tackled the fast-paced developments in the region, especially the mounting tension in Libya, considering the green light given by the Turkish parliament to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to send troops to Libya. The meeting touched on the evolving situation in Iraq, the Turkish and Iranian interference in the region, as well as threats facing Arab countries in the Gulf, the spokesman said. Both sides agreed on preventing regional developments from undermining the stability and security of the Arab Gulf, the spokesman added.
